Fashion Week: Peter Som

The Clothes Som's collection was awash in dreamy shades of butter yellow, washed navy, and pale grey, in fabrics with a very uptown sensibility - jacquard, damask, organdy. If I were a socialite I would wear Peter Som to every occasion.

The standout was the washed navy organdy gown on Jessica Stam (left), with a Watteau back and a black velvet sash adorned with a cameo-style brooch. This gown was a perfect example of how well Som handles volume; the back was billowy and voluminous, but the dress still looked tailored and in proportion.

The dove gret jacquard coat in the center opened the show and was equally gorgeous; it was actually several tiers of different lacy jacquard fabrics. The detail is hard to see here, so check out style.com for better photos (these photos are my own, taken from my seat).

The cerulean blue taffeta coat (right) was stunning, and while far brighter than the other pieces in the collection, still fit in perfectly. The color was amazing.

The People John Bartlett, Lauren duPont, Emmy Rossum, and Tinsley Mortimer, who looked like an overgrown schoolgirl in a Peter Pan blouse, black jumper, pinned hair, and red Mary Janes.
