Runway Beauty: Backstage at Alexander Wang

Alexander Wang was back this season with more clothes for the "M.O.D." (Model Off Duty) and the hair and the makeup were a perfect match. I asked Dick Page how the Alexander Wang girl had evolved since last season. "She's wearing more clothes," he said, "and she's really pissed off!"

Indeed, the look was very downtown, slightly grungy, and definitely angry. Dick described the makeup inspiration as "the walk of shame," featuring a "leftover eye." (I love this guy.)

Dick rimmed eyes with Shiseido Accentuating Cream Eyeliner in Black and then "smushed" it into a layer of Hydro Powder Eye Shadow in Glistening Sand. Skin was nearly bare, with concealer and foundation only where needed.

Just before the girls hit the runway, he blended the same Hydro Powder shadow with a bit of Aquaphor and dabbed it on lips for a subtle sheen. I asked him if barely-there lips would be the trend for fall. "Fine with me," he said, "you ever try keeping lip color on backstage?"

For hair, Redken stylist Guido created a "young, rock and roll inspired" look, letting hair dry naturally and then styling it with Redken Thickening Lotion and dry shampoo. These "just out of the shower" 'dos were topped off with...beanies! Yep, every look rocked a beanie on the runway. Expect to see them everywhere this Fall!
