Runway Beauty: Backstage at 3.1 Phillip Lim

3.1 Phillip Lim was my last show of the week, and what better way to finish things up than with NARS? Makeup artist Ayako created the look for the show. It was all about the "new modern," a powerful woman, but to me it looked very much inspired by the 30s/40s era. Skin was nearly bare - and eyes and cheeks, completely so. Not even a swipe of mascara or a speck of blush! The face was accented only by a deep brick red lip and a strong brow.

Brows were drawn in, and lips were coated in NARS semi-matte lipstick in Fire Down Below and Velvet Matte lip pencil in Dragon Girl.

The sleek, minimalist hair was by Odile Gilbert for Aveda, who swept half the hair backward and pinned it across the back of the head. It looked like half the hair had been blown back by the kindest breeze nature ever sent (i.e., a far cry from the 40mph gusts we've been experiencing in NYC these days!).

Now a note for all you NARS lovers out there...there are a few NARS products in the bottom left photo (click the image to enlarge). The eye shadow duo is Isolde, which is a gorgeous gold/bronze combo, and I'm pretty sure the other pan is new Dolce Vita blush (yes, same shade as the famous lipstick!). New lipsticks include Kismet, Beautiful Liar and Canaille. I didn't get to see the shades so I suppose we'll just have to guess...for now!
