Missoni Solid Perfume Charm Necklace

Readers who were with me during the craze of the 2007 holiday season know of my consuming obsession with solid perfumes. The format just lends itself so well to irresistible little compacts and trinkets, I find myself drooling over them no matter how frivolous.

But when solid perfumes start to appear in pendant form, things start to get a little murky. These tend to pop up around the holidays, and I generally find them to be childish and rather clunky. They're just as silly as those lip gloss necklaces that look like bizarre pomanders and should not be worn by anyone over the age of 15.

This solid perfume charm from Missoni, however, is surprisingly cute. Nevermind the actual perfume, I think the necklace would look perfect with a breezy summer dress on a hot night. Although the "M" charm is bothersome to me...I don't know why one would want to wear any initial but their own, or maybe that of their child. If your name begins with an M, you're in luck! Otherwise, you might be able to snip it off with needlenose pliers.

As for the scent itself, Missoni seems to be rather polarizing. It's dry, somewhat bitter, and wholly unusual. I've sniffed it on others and hated it, but on me, it works. Smells like oranges, bitter chocolate, and hazelnuts.

Notes are Radiant Yellow Accord, Bergamot, Magnolia, Loquat, Chocolate Brown Accord, Gianduia Chocolate, Amber, Magenta Pink Accord, Peony, Rose, Intense Oranges Accord, Mandarin, Bitter Orange, Persimmon.

You may love it, you may hate it. Do NOT buy this one unsniffed! But if you love it, do pick up the solid version in this summery little charm necklace. $50 at Sephora.
