Viva La Juicy, Viva La Impulse Buys

Viva La Juicy is a scent that I wasn't supposed to like. I hated the original Juicy fragrance, so I fully expected to despise this new one as well, especially since it came packaged in the same bottle (except gussied up with a hot pink ribbon this time).

But I was sucked in by a Sephora endcap display featuring oodles of fragrance rollerballs (OMG! You know how much I love rollerballs), and Viva La Juicy was one of them, so I had to give it a sniff.

It wasn't particularly interesting, innovative or different, but...I liked it. In fact, I liked it so much that it won out over several other fragrances I was considering that evening, including Dolce & Gabbana The One (see this post to understand why that was serious deja vu, including later regretting not purchasing it).

Viva La Juicy came home with me that evening, for the small price of $16 (rollerballs make excellent impulse purchases). My nose is still glued to my arm.

And honestly, I can't figure out why; it doesn't have any of my usual "automatic love" notes like mimosa or heliotrope, and under normal circumstances I'd consider it too sweet for my tastes. But I've been experiencing quite a bit of irrational love when it comes to fragrance these days, so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised!

Viva La Juicy's notes include wild berries, mandarins, honeysuckle, gardenia, jasmine, amber, caramel, vanilla, sandalwood, praline. The fruit, mercifully, departs rather quickly, replaced by sweet white flowers. And once the praline makes its appearance, it's almost a comfort scent.

Viva La Juicy runs from $16 for the rollerball to $85 for the 3.4 oz EdP. I'm sticking with the rollerball for now, unless this impulse buy happens to turn into long term love.
