Return of the Rouge

Maybe I'm inspired by the colors of the changing leaves, or maybe it's just the Mad Men mania that's sweeping the nation, but I'm about to recommend red blush -- a modern equivalent of that classic beauty staple, rouge.

Shiseido Accentuating Color Stick in S4 Rouge Flush is an easy-to-work-with stick in a somewhat intimidating hue. I mean, it's red. In these days of peachy-pink Orgasm and sunny-looking bronzers, who reaches for red blush?

But this blush is just so perfect for the season. Sweep some on your cheeks and put yourself in the mind of crisp weather, apple picking, and natural flushes. Applied with a light hand, it looks surprisingly fresh, healthy and outdoorsy.

And this formulation makes it easy to get it right. The Accentuating Color Stick is soft, and easy to apply and blend without streaking or dragging. While I love NARS Multiples, I find Shiseido's sticks easier to work with in terms of blendability.

And if you love the formula and the texture as much as I do, pick up the Stick in Glistening Flush or Champagne Flush; both are gorgeous, subtle highlighters that are incredibly easy to blend. At $33, they're even a bit cheaper than NARS Multiples, and worth every penny.
