Ken Paves Hosts Makeover Madness Fundraiser for Rally for Kids with Cancer

This post isn't really about beauty products, or celebrities, or bargains, or trends...but I'm sharing it with you because it totally made me cry, and melted my cold little heart!

On Monday, Ken Paves hosted a Makeover Madness fundraising event at his West Hollywood salon to raise money for Rally for Kids with Cancer, an organization that provides awareness and resources for children suffering from cancer. The event was attended by Ashlee Simpson and Eva Longoria Parker (the honorary chairman) who stopped by to play with the kids and even get their hands in on some of the makeovers.

Paves and a squad of beauty experts, which included eyebrow guru Anastasia Soare and Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin, provided beauty treatments for the children including customized wigs by Hairdo. “I asked some of the kids what cancer meant to them and they said how scary they think it is,” Paves said. “All these proceeds go to research for kids with cancer. It’s just an amazing cause.”

The photo for this post includes a before-and-after of Samantha Elaine De La Torre, age 7, diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, who finished chemo just 2 months ago.

What a great event for an amazing cause! No child should have to endure an ordeal as harrowing as cancer. But little things like this -- a day of pampering and fun, a way to regain just a little piece of their normal life and appearance -- can make such a difference. Whatever puts a smile on a sick child's face, even for a day, is a worthy cause in my book.

I just made a donation to Ken Paves' Rally for Kids team. You can, too -- click here for details.
