Runway Beauty: Hair Trends with Jimmy Paul

Just before the start of Jason Wu's show, I had the chance to spend a few minutes with key hairstylist Jimmy Paul, chatting about the look for the show and key trends for next fall.

When I met him, he was snipping away at a model's extensions, to create a "grungy, rock and roll" style to match the Kate Moss-inspired makeup and clothes (Jason Wu counts Moss among his muses).

Jimmy parted hair in the middle and used Bumble & bumble Prep on front sections of wet hair, to keep it flat at the root. He brushed it flat at the crown, letting it fall toward the models' faces. For a little lift in the back, he used Bb. Thickening Spray and worked it downward, creating a messy, ropey texture.

And how we'll be wearing our hair next Fall? "Anything goes," Jimmy says. "Just not too done or fussy." Still like your hair neat and pulled back? Tight ponytails are also a trend, he says (I spotted a perfect one on Tinsley Mortimer this week). Also, "bangs, cut a little long and pushed to the side." So there you have it, straight from the source!
