Wandering Eye

The past few days have been a little crazy, friends. Everything is in flux -- work location, home location, taxes, leases, everything! I just can't seem to stay in one place. I worked in 3 different cities this week. Oh, and I am moving. Just across town.

Too many moving parts all at once!

But one thing that has remained constant is my recent obsession with...purple eyeliner. Not hideous, bright purple, Barney the Dinosaur purple, but deep eggplant colors that are a fun alternative to basic black. I've been playing with Nars eyeliner in Bamako and Stila Kajal eyeliner in Amethyst, but now I've discovered something else I'm in love with: Nars Cream Eye Shadow in Swing.

Swing is a dark, bluish eggplant shade that is surprising wearable, and makes a fantastic eyeliner when applied with a good brush. I like to do a well-defined line (think liquid liner) or smudge it upward on the top lid. Pair it up with a neutral powder shadow and you're good to go. It's eye-catching and different, but still subtle enough that it doesn't scream, "HEY! I am wearing CRAZY PURPLE eye makeup! To the OFFICE! Feel free to call HR now."

So go for it. Break away from the browns, blacks and greys! There's a whole world of violet, indigo, and aubergine waiting for you.
