A few weeks ago I was strolling down a Tribeca street during the film festival, on my way to meet someone for dinner. It was one of those gorgeous late spring evenings in New York - warm, breezy, comfortable, not too humid.
There was quite a bit of NYPD presence on the street, so I stopped at a patrol car to inquire (they were shutting down a street for a premiere). Just as I was stepping away, the cop leaned out the window and said, "Uh, so, where are you off to tonight? You smell so good!"
Hah!
What I found so amusing was that it wasn't the first time I'd been complimented on that particular fragrance. Men -- from co-workers to cab drivers -- seemed to comment on it every time I wore it. But when I bought it, I certainly didn't think of it as sexy, not even in the least. I thought it would be good for everyday wear, something light for the super-hot days ahead. But now it's the most powerful man-magnet in my perfume cabinet.
So what is it?
Marc Jacobs Cucumber Splash.
I kid you not! Out of all the spicy, woody, warm fragrances that are supposed to be sexy, this is the one that wins hands down. So I say, to hell with all the fragrances marketed as "sexy." The men have spoken, and apparently, gentlemen prefer...vegetables!
