Friends, it's been snowing on my desk.
Not real snow. Not dust. Not glitter. Not dandruff. It's my ARM.
After a combined 4 weeks in a cast and a surgical dressing, so much excess skin has accumulated on it that it feels like the whole thing is going to peel off. I'm shedding like a snake! What's a girl to do?
Since I'd been advised to start massaging my arm and hand to get the muscles going again, I searched my beauty closet for something that would facilitate the massage and get rid of the flakies. In addition to my old favorite, Nivea, here's what's been working:
Product Body Mama Bomb, a gorgeous body balm originally intended for pregnant bellies! This blend of cocoa butter, shea butter, olive butter, macadamia nut butter, jojoba oil, coconut oil and vitamin E has truly come to the rescue, and the Citrus Butter scent is divine. Yet another winner from Joanna Schmidt and Product Body; in my eyes she can do no wrong.
Purely Shea Organic Shea Butter. This super-thick shea butter makes for a great massage since it takes quite a bit of effort to rub in - and the results are amazing. A little bit goes a long way; I have a feeling my little jar is going to last forever. I've been using the Unscented - it has a natural scent that smells a bit like licorice - but it's also available in Lavender.
Since these heavy-duty products are both quite thick, they do leave film on the skin, so they're best used at night right before bed. I like coating my arm in the butter and then wrapping it in an Ace bandage - in the morning it's super soft!
What are your favorite heavy duty dry skin remedies?
