The past couple of seasons at Proenza Schouler, it's been all about the lip. Two seasons ago we saw the prototype of the ultra-hyped, super cool Proenza Pink, and last season brought an incredible glossy red lip custom-blended from four shades.
So this season, I was expecting another MAJOR lip. But...gasp! A monochromatic face!
But you know what? I really liked it. Neutral faces are sometimes hard to pull off on the runway, what with the harsh lights and all, but this one was still feminine and pretty.
Lancome's Gucci Westman took her inspiration from Proenza's khaki-dominated, organic-meets-military collection, creating a look that was "a continuation of the safari-inspired clothes." She used Lancome Color Design Eye Shadows in Couture and Click (neutral browns) to create a "sleepy" eye, blending the shadows all the way around the eye for a "floating" effect. Eyes were finished in more shades of brown, with Hypnose mascara and Artliner, both in Brown.
Brows were "dark, defined, and elongated" with Le Crayon Poudre in Sable. I love the look of a defined brow, and elongating it slightly beyond its natural edge gives the girls an exotic quality...almost like lionesses (perfect match for the safari-inspired gear!).
The only pop of color was on cheeks, which were perked up with Magique Blush in Petticoat Pink. Magique is a mousse blush that's long been a Beauty Addict favorite - it's nearly impossible to mess up!
The look was finished with a coat of beige gloss (Color Fever Gloss in Engaging) and a dusting of Photogenic Loose Powder for a matte finish.
