...or, more accurately, no need for lipliner. Let's face it; no one actually likes to wear lipliner. It requires a precise application, lengthens your makeup routine, and reminds most normal women of scary early 90's faces sporting dark liner and pale beige lips. (This trend continues, unfortunately, in several pockets of bad taste right in my hometown of Brooklyn).
But the truth is that lipliner is often a necessity. It evens out the borders of the lips, corrects any asymmetry, keeps your gloss or lipstick within its proper borders, and - when blended properly - leaves a nice coat of color even after your lippie has worn off. So let's all admit that lipliner can be a good thing and move on, shall we?
Specifically, let's celebrate the fact that one of my favorite lipliners of all time, Clinique Quickliner in Pink Truffle, has mysteriously reappeared on shelves. (I don't see it on clinique.com, but it's definitely at Sephora.) It seemed to be a limited edition item in last holiday's Pink Chocolates collection, but alas, it has returned!
Pink Truffle is a medium-dark, creamy pink with nary a trace of the orange or rust tones that plague most liners claiming to be in the "nude" family. It doesn't really work for a neutral mouth unless your lips are naturally very pigmented, but it blends beautifully with nearly everything else in my makeup bag, from pink and berry glosses to Chanel Aqualumiere lippies and my treasured Lancome P.S. Kiss.
So if you're on the hunt for a perfect base for your beloved berry shades, look no further. Pink Truffle is here to save you!
What are your favorite go-to lipliners?
