Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion is a fine powder that adds thickness and texture to hair. I must confess to having this product in my beauty closet for months and not knowing how to use it AT ALL. See, the bottle is very small and you have to peel back the label to get the usage instructions. Apparently I missed this small detail, and I wasn't about to shake some random powder into my hair, so on the shelf it sat.
Then I met Ellen Maguire, VP of Global Communications for Aveda, at a dinner party a couple of weeks ago and caught her showing someone this very product. You're supposed to shake some into your hand and then smush it a little - which turns it into a LIQUID. Whoa! How did I miss that?
Scrunching the newly liquefied product into your hair gives it a matte, messy texture and adds thickness and volume. It's a little like Bumble & bumble Brilliantine but since it's not creamy, it doesn't weigh hair down at all. It relies on acacia gum and kaolin clay to do its work, and the formula is very thin and light in its liquid form.
Pure Abundance Hair Potion is great for freshening up second day roots - and you CAN shake it directly into your hair for this purpose. Or, liquefy some in your hands and run it through your hair before/during styling, to help create looks like this one.
