Runway Beauty: Backstage at Narciso Rodriguez

Before we start talking beauty, can I just say that Jerry Seinfeld is actually really hot in person? Saw him at the show and was shocked. Off to watch some Seinfeld reruns as soon as I post this.

Now, down to business. The look at Narciso Rodriguez, created by Shiseido's Dick Page, was "natural and ephemeral," with lots of pale pinks and pearly finishes. Page used two shades of pink on eyes - Hydro Powder Eye Shadow in Rose Tulle and a new shade from the Q11 eye shadow quad, which you'll be able to snag this Fall.

Cheeks, chin, and philtrum (love that word) were highlighted with Shiseido Accentuating Color Stick in Champagne Flush, a new shade for Fall. This is the second time I've seen this new color this season; it's a neutral champagne with this gorgeous pearly finish, making it a perfect highlighter. The texture of the stick is somewhat similar to a NARS Multiple, but creamier (I sometimes find the Multiples a little dry).

Page used the same product in the S4 shade (Rouge Flush, currently available), lightly dabbing it on cheeks and lips. The face was finished with a light dusting of powder, natural, clean brows, and - gasp! - NO MASCARA.

As for the hair, I will fully admit to being mystified by it. When I left the backstage area just minutes before the show started, the front sections of the girls' hair were in tiny braids, as you see in the photos. Some of them were even braiding sections of their own hair while the stylists worked on the back! But when they hit the runway, the braids were taken out and brushed back into buns, creating these slightly crimped waves in the front. Eugene Souleiman, you amaze me.
