Primer...You're Doing It Wrong

There's a certain product in my possession which, every time I pick it up, causes me to conjure up this mental image of a LOLcat coming to tell me off.

Smashbox Filter With Dermaxyl Complex is the product in question. I have had it for nearly two years and haven't managed to use it up, which should tell you something. I wrote about it nearly two years ago, recently rediscovered it, and now find myself asking the same questions about why this product exists in the first place.

Filter takes the original Smashbox Photo Finish primer formula, adds the anti-aging Dermaxyl Complex, and houses it in a click pen applicator. The click pen is supposed to facilitate more precise application, but seriously...is the applicator that much smaller than the tip of your index finger? Nope.

What's especially funny is that you can buy nearly a full ounce of Smashbox Photo Finish Primer with SPF15 and Dermaxyl Complex for $42, or the original Photo Finish for $36, but 0.05 oz of the product in the pen applicator - that's 1/20 of an ounce! - will set you back $28. Ouch!

But maybe it's me, maybe I'm missing something. Is there some special magic about this product, and I'm just...doin it wrong?
