I'm no stranger to the world of expensive skincare - I've purchased it, sampled it, loved it, hated it. I fondly remember my first jar of Creme de la Mer; I bought it during one of those amazing Best of Beauty weeks, back when Gloss.com was still around (I miss that site!). Honestly, there was something thrilling about owning a product that was so coveted and, for some, prohibitively expensive.
But everyone has their limits, and I'm not just talking budgetary limits. I mean the limits of good sense. My mom spent a few hundred dollars on a Sisley serum a couple of years ago, and I couldn't believe it. Sticker shock!
Chanel has just debuted a wildly expensive serum, and while it sure does look tempting, the price tag makes me cringe. Sublimage Serum, which claims to deliver twice the anti-aging benefits of its cream counterpart, is $385 for 1 oz!
For me, the hardest part about resisting is that it's the sister product of the Chanel Sublimage eye cream, which I absolutely loved. But for now, I think I'll be happy with my Estee Lauder Idealist.
What about you? Are you the reasonable type, or does your skincare spending know no boundaries? Tell me...
