Dear Dad,

A few things I want to thank you for on your "special day" --

Thank you for being my VP of Logistics and picking up all my beauty packages, even though I still think you're overtipping the UPS guy.

And thanks for recycling all the boxes.

Thank you for being one of this blog's biggest fans, even from the beginning when no one else was reading but you, Mom and a couple of friends.

Thank you for noticing that I'm wearing that "bronze eyeliner from Clinique" and that it "really does make your eyes look bluer."

Thank you for always telling me I look beautiful, even though I spent the large part of my teenage years rolling my eyes and pretending I didn't care.

Thank you for all the times you bothered me about sunscreen and taking care of my skin. Seriously. Again, sorry for the eye-rolling.

Thank you for rescuing me the time I left the house without my wallet, money and ID, and essentially locked myself inside the parking garage near World Financial Center, right before I was scheduled to present at that big meeting. Whew.

And thanks for rescuing me again, when my alternator died in the parking lot at the 7-11. I missed a morning of work, but it was worth it to get to spend a few hours with you buying all those scratch-off tickets and eating crab cakes at Rocco's.

Thank you for all the strawberry cream cheese, the car washes, the rides home from sorority parties in the middle of the night, and the time you tried to fix my little Barbie sewing machine...over an open flame on the stove. Hmmm.

Thank you for inspiring my love of crossword puzzles and Stephen King.

Thank you for all our inside jokes....Ragu, lucky pigs, get the garbage ready, tripping on the way back from the bagel store, "hey guy, how ya doing," Rambo, carcinoma mendocino, "him don't know," Passions, "I'm so sorry for your demise," affidius didius, and FOT.

Thank you for being the one and only, world famous Joe Kelly.
