Self-Tanner Review Series: Jergens Natural Glow

Ah, the one that started it all! No gradual self-tanner has even been as hyped, as hoarded, or as hotly debated as Jergens Natural Glow.

I remember when it first appeared on the shelves, women everywhere stampeded their local Walgreens to buy up the entire stock. Soon there was none left, anywhere. I felt lucky to find a couple of tubes at a Happy Harry's drugstore in Wilmington, DE. I felt like I left the store with a prize!

Now, of course, you can get it everywhere. And while I feel that Jergens did an amazing job formulating and marketing this product (seriously, hats off to them for starting the gradual tanner revolution), there are now several options that do a better job, even at the drugstore price point. Plus, the stale butterscotch smell of the original Jergens Natural Glow was terrible (it has since been reformulated, and smells MUCH better).

Jergens does an okay job, but after a few applications it heads into orange territory, just like its counterpart from Dove. It also feels like it never fully sinks into my skin. Once again, there are better options.

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here, but the best tanner in this category really is L'Oreal Sublime Glow; it feels the most like a normal body lotion, the tan is believable, and the tea scent somehow works with the DHA instead of fighting it.
