The Foam Party

OK, here's a bizarre travel dilemma (incidentally, the title of this post goes out to anyone who's ever been on Spring Break).

I LOVE liquid-to-foam cleansers, but they're impossible to sneak past the TSA unless you can score them in a mini size (which is almost never). The problem is that the foaming mechanism keeps you from transferring them into a travel-size container...if you tried to pour them in, you'd just end up splashing clear liquid onto your face. Not the best choice.

I've been toying with the idea of buying a few mini Anti-Bacterial Foaming Hand Sanitizers from Bath & Body Works, using them up, and then pouring in the face cleanser. They have the same pump mechanism as my cleanser bottles, I just have to make sure you can screw the tops off.

Anyhow, enough of this MacGyver talk. The reason this has been bugging me these days is that I've found yet another foaming cleanser that I love. In addition to my old favorites, Murad Energizing Pomegranate Cleanser and Aveda Outer Peace, a new one from Philosophy now occupies a coveted spot in my cleanser lineup. It's the new Purity Made Simple High Foaming Daily Cleanser. (Um, does anyone else see the irony in the product name? It's seven words long but contains the word "simple.")

Anyhow, I used to use the original Purity cleanser way back in the day when it was called Real Purity. My skin was in a very rebellious state back then, and Purity was one of the only products that seemed not to aggravate in any further. After a few bottles, though, my skin decided it hated it, and I was forced to switch.

So, not the best memories there. I approached the new version with a little trepidation, but since it was of the foaming variety, I knew it would eventually win me over. It did.

It's light, it smells good, it's free of sulfates and parabens, it removes my makeup, and it doesn't leave my skin feeling overly dry. I think it might be a little too drying for winter, when I tend to prefer a more creamy cleanser, but for now, it really hits the spot. The foaming Purity is a superb cleanser for the next couple of months of "transitional" weather.
