Fun in the Sun: Hawaiian Tropic Clear Spray Sunscreens

I know I've talked plenty about facial sunscreens on this blog, but body sunscreens? Not so much. And honestly, I don't really know why, because I use them all the time. My go-to favorites are Neutrogena Fresh Cooling Body Mist and Banana Boat Protective Tanning Oil Spray in SPF15, but lately, I've been cheating on them with these two Hawaiian Tropic lovelies.

Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Continuous Clear Spray Sunscreen and Dry Oil Clear Spray Sunscreen are both continuous spray mists, like the Neutrogena mentioned above. I love this type of delivery system, since it's easy to cover your whole bod quickly, and you can reach your back without help. (The only drawback? It can be hard to tell if you've missed a spot, so be thorough. Less is NOT more when it comes to sunscreen!)

The Sheer Touch sunscreen is clear, non-greasy, and most important of all, effective (it's available in SPF 30, 50 and 80). I like this one for sweaty or active days (yardwork, etc), since it tends to stay put better than an oil.

As for the Dry Oil Clear Spray, well, first let's address the obvious question - why even use an oil if you're looking for sun protection? Personally, I love the shiny finish of an oil, the way it feels on my skin, and the moisture factor. It's like getting the glamour factor of old-school sunbathing, with none of the damage. That said, it's definitely not for days when you're worried about ruining an outfit, or running around doing errands. This one's for basking on the beach. I use the SPF 12, and for extended sun exposure, it's usually on top of/in combination with a higher SPF sunscreen.

As for the delivery of the actual product, in this case, the continuous spray is critical. It's a huge advantage over the Banana Boat spray oil, which uses a traditional "spritz" mechanism. The Hawaiian Tropic goes on in an even layer without getting drippy or spotty.

And of course, both products smell utterly amazing. While I love the smell of both Neutrogena and Banana Boat, there's just something iconic about Hawaiian Tropic, isn't there?
