Self-Tanner Review Series: Lancome Flash Bronzer Tinted Self-Tanning Leg Gel

Yeah, yeah, it says it's for legs, but that doesn't mean that this Lancome self-tanning gel isn't great for the rest of your bod, too. Don't believe me? It's also a favorite of Nadine Haobsh and Jean Godfrey-June.

Lancome's Flash Bronzer Tinted Self-Tanning Leg Gel has a transparent deep bronze tint, a good dose of fine shimmer, and a helping of Vitamin E as an extra treat for your skin. It looks great the minute you put it on -- healthy, glowing and non-streaky. The shimmer may be a little much for the workday, but otherwise, it's fine (you won't look like a walking disco ball).

The smell is about the same as my favorite Lancome tanner formulation, Glow 'N Wear. It's not horrible; it's tolerable for a few hours, especially when you see the resulting tan.

My only problem is that this particular formulation takes quite a long time to dry; for me, about 30 minutes. Standing in front of the air conditioner helps. Personally, I think you'd be better off with Glow 'N Wear, which produces the same enviable tan with less drying time (and it's available in both Shimmer and Natural Tan).

One additional thing to keep in mind: ALL of Lancome's self-tanners are called "Flash Bronzer," it's just the name of the range. However, the products are very different (the mousse formula is horrible, while the Glow 'N Wear is my HG). So when someone says, "Oh, I tried Flash Bronzer, it's terrible," or "Buy Flash Bronzer, it's the best," they could be referring to any one of several products in the range. It pays to get the details straight!
