This far into Fashion Week, it's clear that the lip is back. Still, there will always be a place for the pale lip look, and this season it has evolved from super-matte nudes to pale pinks, both matte and (slight) shimmer.
Lips at Narciso Rodriguez (top left) were pale candy pink and the glossiest of the set (see also: Luella Bartley); Marc Jacobs (top center) showed a similar look but in a matte finish. Gucci Westman for Lancome created a new twist on the trend at Proenza Schouler (top right); the milky, pink-white lips were inspired by good old Pink Zinc for a modern surfer girl look.
Westman's look for Behnaz Sarafpour (bottom left) was the most natural and minimal of the six featured here; just a hint of color, created in part by blush for a soft matte finish. She also created the look for Rag and Bone (bottom center), pinky-beige lips finished with powder for a matte finish. Finally, Carolina Herrera (bottom right) showed early '60s influences with pale pink shimmer.
