Molton Brown Intoxicating Davana Blossom Foaming Bath Oil is a product that I really wanted to hate. Why, you ask? The spot in my bathroom for "foaming bath oil" was already taken, by my beloved L'Occitane Amande Shower Oil. I am trying very hard these days not to get hooked on new bath products. And, at $67 it is a bit of an indulgence.
It is with mixed feelings that I report that this product is nearly impossible to hate. I had never heard of a davana flower before encountering this product, but the scent is absolutely delicious. It lingered in the bathroom until the following morning, and I found myself sniffing the air (and my skin) incessantly. Notes include Egyptian orange flower, jasmine sambac, Indian Davana blossom, bergamot, neroli, and tolu.
When poured into a running bath the oil creates a medium foam, not as much as a traditional bubble bath, but just enough. Its moisturizing properties are on the level of the Amande oil...after stepping out of the tub I did not need a body lotion, even in this harsh winter weather.
Overall, it easily matches up to high-end oils like Jo Malone, and you're actually getting a little bit of a better deal ($60 for 250ml of Jo Malone oils, $67 for 300 ml of this one).
As for the "intoxicating" aspect? I will tell you this: after 10 minutes in the bath, breathing this stuff in and soaking in the silky water, I felt stoned. So there you go, truth in advertising!
