The Expensive Hotel Smell: L'Occitane Bergamot Tea

Remember the Spa Smell we talked about a few months back? It's that light, slightly herbal whiff of scent that you immediately associate with bathrobes, massages and soft music. Erno Laszlo Gentle Body Exfoliator has it, and so does Darphin Age-Defying Lip Balm.

Now I think it's time to christen another scent category that has some serious luxury associations.

The idea came to me while I was sniffing around a L'Occitane store. Their Bergamot Tea scent smells like...Expensive Hotel.

This could be due to its slight resemblance to Bvlgari White Tea, which Ritz-Carlton has chosen for its guest room amenities. In any case, Bergamot Tea is absolutely lovely - refreshing, luxurious, citrusy without being sharp. It's reminiscent of Earl Grey tea, my favorite variety.

Notes include bergamot from Calabria, mandarin, cardamom, grapefruit, black tea extract, wild rose, blond wood, black wood and musks.

Bergamot Tea is available in eau de toilette, shower gel, hand cream, potpourri, solid perfume, and a moisturizing milky body mist. I've been enjoying the shower gel, which feels appropriately luxurious and expensive, and the hand cream, just because I'm a major sucker for anything L'Occitane produces in hand cream form!
