Tinkerbell Was Here

Summer is fast approaching, friends. Miniskirt season. Camisole season. Bathing suit season. In other words, the season of bare skin.

I am willing to bet that while many of us have little respect for J. Lo's line of "Glow" fragrances, all of us secretly want to look like the girls in the ads. Lithe, glowy, and shimmery - almost as if something luminescent is being emitted straight from their pores. The grown-up version of our friend Tink over here.

Unfortunately, many of the "body shimmer" products out there are targeted to 12-year-olds - big pieces of multicolored glitter in a base of raspberry-scented gel. Not exactly the glowy, luminous look we're after.

But fear not! The intrepid Beauty Addict has scoured the stores and the Internet for a remedy! And I have discovered something quite good. In fact, I love it so much that I've been applying it even when I'm staying in for the night, because it looks so pretty...and it's fun.

ModelCo Shimmer Airbrush Illuminiser comes in a spray can and distributes a fine mist of shimmer so lightly and evenly that there's no rubbing or spreading required - so your palms won't look like they were dipped in pixie dust. Moreover, the spray allows you to easily target your application, but without the dreaded effect of stripes; since it's "airbrush," you don't get any harsh edges. And, it smells absolutely heavenly. I wish ModelCo would make more products with this pink frangipani scent - it's gorgeous and summery.

A couple of caveats: DO shake the can well before applying, and DO just let it dry for a few seconds. If you attempt to rub it in, you'll smear it all over your hands and it will get clumpy. Just leave it alone for a few seconds; it will set, and won't move around for the rest of the day (or night).

A while back I told you about ModelCo's Skin Drink Airbrush Moisturizer, which is also outstanding (no shimmer in this one). Mini sizes of both products, along with a mini "Tan In A Can," are available in the Mini Airbrush Collection if you'd like to try all three without too much commitment.

Runners-up in the shimmer category: Jergens Soft Shimmer Skin Radiance Moisturizer and from a previous post, Michael Kors Leg Shine. Please note that in the Kors post, when I make fun of "airbrush legs," I am not referring to products like ModelCo's, but to the ones that purport to be like a spray-on stocking. Yikes.
