Part 3 in our recap of Sephora's 2007 "Best Of" winners! Click for Part 1: Complexion and Part 2: Eyes.
Lip Gloss: NARS Lip Gloss in Orgasm
NARS glosses have a fab texture and great shine, so this win comes as no surprise! Orgasm is a shimmering peachy-pink and true to the shade of the famous blush. It's not my favorite of the NARS glosses, though...that honor belongs to the Sweet Dreams/Harlow duo, which combines shimmery candy pink with pearly beige (an excellent highlight color for the center of the lip). I could list umpteen other drool-worthy glosses from other brands, but you'd be here all day reading them, so let's move on, shall we?
Lip Plumper: Lip Venom
DuWop's Lip Venom pioneered the lip plumper category, so perhaps it deserves the win on that basis alone, but I think there are better plumpers out there. LipFusion (the subject of one of the very first posts on this blog), for example, delivers the same or better plumping benefits without the redness or burning. But then again, if you like a rosy, "bee-stung" look to go along with your plump pout, classic Lip Venom may still be your best choice. Plus, the tube is small enough to slip into the tiniest evening bag for a quick pick-me-up (excellent before a photo op to guard against washed-out lips!).
Lipstick: NARS Lipstick in Dolce Vita
Dolce Vita is starting to become a staple shade on the level of that other classic NARS product! It's widely heralded as "universally flattering," but I've never been smitten enough with it to actually take the plunge and buy it. When it comes to NARS lipsticks I prefer some of the stranger colors like coral Niagara and pastel pink Roman Holiday. Runners-up for me in the classic lipstick category? Smashbox and Vincent Longo (not even nominated! Yikes).
What are your thoughts on the winners in this category? Too predictable, or just right?
