When I asked you about "clean" fragrances recently, the vote was split, with 47% of you saying you loved 'em, and 44% complaining that they just aren't perfume, so why bother?

Personally, I like a nice soapy scent from time to time, especially when the weather's hot. But as I've mentioned in the past, I feel that the original CLEAN perfume, which became wildly popular a couple of years ago, is just too sharp, too harsh, and too expensive for what it is.

However, the CLEAN Shampoo Fresh Hair Fragrance is an entirely different story. I love it -- in fact, it was one of the very first products I ever blogged about, back in September 2005! It doesn't soak up oil or act as a dry shampoo, but it does lend a fabulously fresh fragrance to tired locks when you've been out in the elements or just have no time to shampoo.

I have to admit, I relied much more heavily on this product before smoking was banned in NYC bars and clubs (hey, when you're 22 and have to get to the office by 8:30 am after partying 'til 4, there's no time to shampoo!). But, I still use it to freshen up my hair for the evening after a long day, or before weekend errands.

The Shampoo Fresh Hair Fragrance does carry the same scent as original CLEAN, but somehow it's softer and better suited to hair than skin. It also has less alcohol than the perfume, so it won't dry out your hair.

I've been complimented on the smell of my hair so many times when using this product, but here's the best one: I was on a date, and the guy's friend told me my hair smelled amazing, right in front of him (why does this always happen? I once had a similar situation with Bond No. 9 Eau de Noho!). I almost laughed at him, because my hair hadn't been washed in two days. Yeah, yeah, bad behavior for a date, I know...but it was a weeknight and I was working like a madwoman. So if that's not proof this product is a winner, I don't know what is.
