New from Donna Karan this summer is Cashmere Mist Liquid Nude, a reinterpretation of the classic original.

Notes include sandalwood, ylang heart, skin musk, orange flowers, pink cyclamen petals, and lily of the valley.

I like the original Cashmere Mist, but I don't love it. I actually prefer the body products--the powder, body creme, Cashmere Silk and deodorant in particular--to the fragrance itself.

But Liquid Nude? Yeah, I'm going to have to say that I love it. Magically removed from this formulation is whatever unplaceable sharp element I didn't like about Cashmere Mist. Liquid Nude smells softer, more like the CM body products, actually. It's warm and cozy without being stifling.

It's light enough to be a summer scent, but if you like to classify your summer scents as tropical or fruity, look elsewhere. Put another way, this is not the fragrance for a vacation in Miami, Hawaii or the Caribbean. It would, however, be absolutely ideal for windswept summer nights in Maine, Montauk, the Outer Banks, or St. Augustine, FL. Catch my drift? If Cashmere Mist Liquid Nude were a place, it would be a windy beach with soft grey skies at dawn, just chilly enough to reach for a light wrap made of, well...cashmere.
