Love It or Leave It: June 2008

I mentioned in the June newsletter that I'd be launching a new monthly feature in which I'd lay out all the best and worst products reviewed that month. I had intended on listing EVERYTHING I'd posted about, but that turned out to be a bit unwieldy, so I decided to focus on the ones I loved or hated the most. So, here are the 10 best, and 5 worst, products of June 2008. (If you want to see everything, here's the link to the entire June archive.)

All are linked to original reviews and posts. And, I should mention that I totally stole the "quoted post snippets" idea from the fabulous and talented Karen of Makeup and Beauty Blog (hey, gotta give credit where it's due!). If you don't read her site on the daily, you should really get on that, like now.

Love It: This month's Top 10

1. Bumble & bumble Creme de Coco Hair Masque
"Undoubtedly the best product I have ever used on my hair."

2. MAC Skinsheen Leg Spray
"Feels like you're rubbing hair serum into your skin, thanks to the silicone base. Dries in less than a minute, leaving you with a sheer, no-shimmer tan."

3. Downy Simple Pleasures Radiance Collection in Turquoise Frost
"I opened my weekend bag and couldn't stop sticking my face into my clothes. Not only were they incredibly soft, they smelled AMAZING."

4. CLEAN Shampoo Fresh Hair Fragrance
"I was on a date, and the guy's friend told me my hair smelled amazing, right in front of him."

5. L'Occitane Sol do Brasil Castanha Face Sunshine Veil
"Doesn't clog my pores, doesn't smell totally obnoxious, and gives my face a believable glow in 2-3 applications."

6. Estee Lauder Sensuous
"A lovely honey and sandalwood base that's creamy and comforting without being too sweet."

7. Product Body Sugarfoot Scrub
"Feels and smells absolutely heavenly. It comes in two scents, but really, who cares about Ruby Red Grapefruit when you can have COOKIE?"

8. Bobbi Brown Black Pearl Lip Gloss
"In the tube it looks almost like pearlized slate grey with a bit of lavender. On the lips it's a sheer purple nude, if that makes sense at all."

9. Beauty of Bathing
"The bath oil is rich, fragrant and moisturizing, the foaming bath produces lots of bubbles and isn't drying, and the eau de parfum is a lovely complement to the line."

10. The orange lip, five ways
"There's just something about extreme heat that makes the orange lippie seem so fresh...and tropical."

Leave It: The Five Worst

1. Aveeno Continuous Radiance Moisturizing Lotion
"The color was atrocious. I actually had a male colleague comment on how bad it was, which was beyond embarrassing."

2. L'Occitane Crushed Grape Polish
"Quite easily the second-worst body scrub I've ever used."

3. ColorOn Eye Envy
"I might have a little more faith in the product if it actually looked good on the models showcased on the website."

4. Neutrogena MicroMist Sunless Spray
"Uneven and splotchy; I could even see the little dots where droplets of tanner had touched my skin."

5. Cover Girl Lash Blast
"This thing is the Mega Bloks of mascaras. It's built like a Fisher Price toy for clumsy preschoolers trying to hone their fine motor skills."
